TRYOUT DATES:

Tryouts for the 2026 season will be held at the Dyson Baudo Rec Center on the Marietta College campus. Dates and times are as follows:

10U, 11U & 12U — Sunday, October 19 | 12 – 1:30 pm

13U — Sunday, October 26 | 4 – 5:30 pm

14U — Saturday, July 12th | 12:30–2:30 PM

15U — Saturday, July 12th | 10:00–12:00 PM

16U, 17U, 18U — Sunday, July 13th | 12:00–2:00 PM

How to register for tryouts:
If you played club volleyball (for any club) during the 2025 season, you do not have to purchase a tryout membership card. If you did not, the first step is to get one. You can do that here: https://ovr.org/membership/register/

HOW CAN I DETERMINE MY CHILD’S AGE GROUP FOR TRYOUTS?

10 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2015
11 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2014
12 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2013
13 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2012
14 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2011
15 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2010
16 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2009
17 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2008
18 and under: Players born on or after July 1, 2007

WHAT WILL TRYOUTS BE LIKE FOR MY CHILD?

Players are evaluated in a variety of physical and skill areas. We also consider intangibles during the tryouts process, including leadership qualities, how they interact with players and coaches, etc. Each tryout will be run by Marietta College coaching staff. Pioneer VBC coaches will be observing each player during the different drills being run.

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING PRIOR TO TRYOUTS THAT PLAYERS CAN ATTEND?

Individual and small group training sessions are available for specific skills including but not limited to: passing, setting, serving, hitting, blocking, agility and speed.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO TRYOUT AT PIONEER VOLLEYBALL CLUB?

The girls tryout fee is $25 and each player must have a USAV membership or tryout card.

WHEN WILL MY CHILD BE PLACED ON A TEAM?

Our coaching staff knows how nerve-wracking the tryout and team selection process can be, so we make every effort to contact all athletes by 10pm the day following the last tryout. At that time we will be able to offer you a position with a specific team or tell you that we are still placing team members and need more time to finalize your placement. It is our hope to have 100% of our teams confirmed within 48 hours after the conclusion of tryouts.

WILL MY DAUGHTER MAKE A TEAM IF SHE PARTICIPATES IN TRYOUTS?

At Pioneer Volleyball Club, our goal is to build teams with players that have the drive, skills and sportsmanship. That being said, trying out does not necessarily guarantee that you will get an offer to be on a team.

SCHEDULE

HOW OFTEN WILL MY TEAM PRACTICE? AND AT WHAT TIMES?

Our Regional teams will practice two times a week (skills clinic and team practice). American and National teams will practice three times a week (skills clinic and two team practices). There is the possibility that one of these practices will fall on a weekend.

HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS WILL MY TEAM PARTICIPATE IN THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?

Depending on the age and level of team, the number of events will vary from 5 – 12 tournaments per club season. These tournaments will vary between one and two day formats, ranging from local to moderate travel.

WHAT EVENTS DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN?

Tournament schedules for our club teams include OVR, OVA and JVA events.

HOW LONG IS YOUR CLUB SEASON?

The length of a team’s season will vary depending the age and level. Our Regional teams will conclude in May. There might be additional opportunities in June for American teams.

WHEN DO PRACTICES START?

Practice information will be released after tryouts for each season.

IF I HAVE MULTIPLE ATHLETES PARTICIPATING IN CLUB, WILL THEY PRACTICE ON THE SAME NIGHT?

While we do our best to accommodate special requests, it is sometimes difficult to arrange practices on the same night. Please note siblings or carpool requests on your tryout registration or at check-in on the first day of tryouts.

MAY MY DAUGHTER PLAY CLUB IF THEY ALSO PARTICIPATE IN OTHER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES?

Yes, athletes may participate in other activities outside of club volleyball, including school sports and recreation volleyball. It is important to communicate any potential conflicts ahead of time with your coach and make every effort to minimize conflicts. Please see the Handbook for additional information.

COSTS

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY CLUB VOLLEYBALL?

Club dues will range depending on team placement and level.

Development Teams – $600 – includes skills training once a week with college coaches/players; one team practice per week; will attend 3-4 tournaments.

Regional Teams – $1,100 without uniform; $1250 with uniform – includes skills training once a week with college coaches/players; one team practice per week; will attend 5-7 tournaments.

American Teams ages 15, 16 and 17 – $1,800 without uniform; $1,950 with uniform – includes skills training once a week with college coaches/players; two team practices per week; will attend 8-10 tournaments, mostly two day events.

American Teams ages 13 and 14 – $1,600 without uniform; $1,750 with uniform – includes skills training once a week with college coaches/players; two team practices per week; will attend 8-10 tournaments, mostly two day events.

WHAT PAYMENT PLANS ARE AVAILABLE FOR MY ATHLETE?

A deposit of $300 will be required at the time of acceptance. A fee schedule will be determined soon for the upcoming season.

Uniforms are not included in club fees and will be an additional cost, unless there is the option to use from a previous year. American and National level teams will have a higher fee.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN CLUB FEES?

Coaching, court rental, insurance, administrative fees, and tournament fees are included. There is an additional fee paid to USAV for the membership club.

HOW DO WE PAY OUR FEES?

We use the billing system through our website, SportEngine. This system will allow you to log-in to your account and setup electronic billing payments. You will also have the ability to see all previous transactions.
